# Difficulty Levels

Subjective difficulty level as specified by author

# Difficulty

The **Difficulty** tag groups the three subjective difficulty markers used across this site: [Easy](/tags/difficulty-easy), [Medium](/tags/difficulty-medium), and [Hard](/tags/difficulty-hard). They reflect the author's view of how challenging a question is to answer correctly — combining vocabulary range, structural complexity, and how cleverly the distractors hide the right answer.

Filtering by difficulty is a faster way to find right-sized material than browsing by topic alone. Match difficulty to your goal: easy for warm-ups and confidence-building, medium for steady progress, hard for exposing gaps before an exam.

# Difficulty

If you've ever finished a "B1 quiz" and felt either bored or hopeless, the level wasn't matching your actual skill — and that's exactly what the **Difficulty** tag fixes. It cuts across all topics and CEFR levels, letting you pick how much challenge you want regardless of subject. The result: practice that's genuinely productive instead of frustrating or trivial.

The **Difficulty** tag groups the three subjective markers — [Easy](/tags/difficulty-easy), [Medium](/tags/difficulty-medium), [Hard](/tags/difficulty-hard) — set by the author to indicate how challenging a question is to answer.

# Difficulty

- [Easy](/tags/difficulty-easy): one rule, obvious answer, A1–A2
- [Medium](/tags/difficulty-medium): one rule, realistic distractors, A2–B1
- [Hard](/tags/difficulty-hard): interacting rules, edge cases, B2+

The **Difficulty** system lets you filter challenges by how hard they are, independent of grammar topic or [CEFR level](/tags/cefr-level). It's an author-assigned estimate of cognitive challenge.

Use difficulty filtering to find your productive zone — material that's hard enough to teach but not so hard it frustrates.

# Difficulty

**Difficulty vs [CEFR level](/tags/cefr-level):** CEFR describes *what grammar* you know (A1 = present simple, B2 = mixed conditionals). Difficulty describes *how tricky the question is*. You can have an Easy question about conditionals or a Hard question about articles — the two axes are independent.

The **Difficulty** tag has three levels: [Easy](/tags/difficulty-easy), [Medium](/tags/difficulty-medium), [Hard](/tags/difficulty-hard) — measuring cognitive challenge rather than grammar level.

Diagnostic: consistently scoring below 60%? Drop one difficulty level. Above 90%? Move up. The productive learning zone is around 70–80% accuracy.
